ARTICLES OF OUR FAITH

ARTICLE I - SCRIPTURE

ARTICLE I - SCRIPTURE

We believe that the Bible is God’s testimony about Himself and the ultimate guide for truth, wisdom and hope in this life. Though God used imperfect human beings to write, copy, and translate his words, the truth contained in them is “God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the person of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Tim 3:16,17 New International Version).

ARTICLE II - CREED

As a general and unifying statement of faith we hold to the tenets of the Apostles’ Creed as it has been formulated and confessed by the Christian church throughout many generations.

I believe in God the Father Almighty,

Maker of heaven and earth

And in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, our Lord;

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the virgin Mary

suffered under Pontius Pilate;

was crucified, dead, and buried;

he descended into hell;

the third day he arose again from the dead,

he ascended into heaven,

and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;

from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

I believe a holy catholic church,

the communion of saints;

the forgiveness of sins;

the resurrection of the body;

and the life everlasting. AMEN

ARTICLE III - THE HUMAN CONDITION

We believe that humanity was created in the image and likeness of God. Because of the Fall into sin, the image of God in us is distorted and less visible. In spite of sin, there are two realities that remain: there is a desire in all people to be reconnected with God, and God loves all his children.

ARTICLE IV - SALVATION

God desires that all people be saved and has provided a way of salvation through the life and atoning death of Jesus Christ. The ultimate and only way of coming to salvation and knowing the only true God is through Jesus Christ the only begotten Son of God by whom our sins are forgiven.

ARTICLE V - DENOMINATIONS

Because of our fallen nature we understand God’s will imperfectly. This fact plus our different personalities, cultural, social and educational backgrounds has produced different worship styles and different doctrinal perceptions that have in turn produced different faiths as well as different denominational expressions within the Christian faith. Though we are a Christian organization and believe that faith in Christ is God’s ultimate will and plan for salvation, we honor the different denominations and worship styles within the Christian church and respect other religious expressions as attempts to create a relationship with God.

ARTICLE VI - THE LOCAL CHURCH

The local church is the organized expression of people’s need for a connection with God and for fellowship with others. It is to be honored, encouraged, and celebrated as one of the best resources available to help people develop spiritual, emotional and societal wholeness.

ARTICLE VII - THE CHRISTIAN WALK

Christians are called to live out their faith in the day to day realities of life. While encouraging healthy and effective life choices among all those we meet in the workplace, we believe that we have a positive impact by encouraging those who are Christians in the workplace to live out their faith more clearly, lovingly and effectively. We believe that the presence of Godly men and women in the workplace (by his or her mere presence, as well as by their example) will empower and encourage these individuals to be more effective Christians in their everyday lives.

ARTICLE VIII - THE VALUE OF WORK

We believe that every individual is created by God with an unique ability and calling to care for and improve this world. The physical and mental work that men and women do each day should therefore be viewed as more than just a way to earn a living, but as an expression of what we were designed to do and as a way to serve God, our neighbor, and this world. Because of the Fall, our world is less pleasant than originally intended by God. However, our work can still be a satisfying and productive way of expressing our giftedness, developing our personhood, and promoting the good in our immediate and extended world. Employees should be encouraged to work to the best of their ability, not only for financial gain, but to develop pride in what they do, and be a benefit to all. Employers should be encouraged to treat their employees with dignity and respect.

ARTICLE IX - THE POWER AND PURPOSE OF PRAYER

We believe that prayer is an effective avenue of communication with God by which we are encouraged to express our praise, questions, confessions, and needs. Prayer also provides an opportunity to partner with God in His work in this world. Prayer should therefore be encouraged and utilized at every opportunity for this ministry whenever appropriate or possible.
